Tom LambrechtParticipantNew kit day!
The ARC kit has arrived. Looks great, fits great. Time to ride!

Tom LambrechtParticipantI’ll join you at Dux.
Tom LambrechtParticipantI’ve recently started using the SILCA Super Secret Chain Lube between hot waxes. This is essentially the Silca Super Secret Hot Melt Wax in emulsion form. The product is a liquid at room temperature with a cream like consistency. You drip it onto the chain and work it in. It sets within 12-24 hours. I find it very convenient for extending the time between hot waxes since you don’t need to remove the chain from the bike. It keeps the drive train nice a quite. A nice to have product for waxers.
Tom LambrechtParticipantThanks Perry. That was a great introduction to riding in the Dandenongs. I wasn’t expecting to go to the summit on my first attempt but with some friendly banter I got there. There was some pain, a small stack but overall an enjoyable experience!
Tom LambrechtParticipantI’ve been meaning to try this ride. I’m scared but I’ll come.
Tom LambrechtParticipantI’ve been waxing my chains for a couple of years now. Apart from the clean and silent drive train, I like the free speed that comes from reduced friction. I need all the help I can get!
I’ve been using the Silca Secret hot wax in a budget slow cooker from Kmart that has been dedicated to the job. I have two chains that I purchased pre-waxed from Zero Friction. I use them for 300km each and then wax them two at a time.
Pre-wax, I dip the chains into a plastic container filled with boiling water and wipe them clean with a paper towel. That removes most of the grime. Then they’re off into the dip. After waxing, I pat the excess, external, wax off with a paper towel and let the chains cool naturally to room temperature. It’s pretty easy.
I’m guilty of reusing the links more than recommended but I’ve not had any issues with them so far. The links are quite expensive for what they are. I de keep a spare set of links in the saddle bag just in case. The YBN links seem to last longer than the KMC ones. I cannot see myself going back to oil. Wax is the way to go.

Tom LambrechtParticipantIt looks like the website has a pretty good size guide actually.

Tom LambrechtParticipantMany thanks Russell. Do you know of any shops that stock this brand for sizing?
