Leaving Ashburton Station around 6:30am and heading along High st to Fertree Gulley and then up Devils Elbow to One Tree Hill. From there it is off to Emerald via the Grantula Rd.
Leaving Emerald we have the option of heading down past the Macclesfield Rd turnoff towards
Genmbrook until we reach the Healesville Koowerup Rd, turn left, for about a km then left up Avon Rd which takes us back up to the Macclesfield Rd.
From there we are back on the road to Swales, Monbulk and the Wall.
After the slog today I am up for an early coffee at Emerald or on to Svaks…. or we can do
Pace will be moderate – I plan to lead from the back – with a distance of around 100km. Ride is around 5.5 hours so should be back just after 12pm.
All welcome and we will wait at the tops for people to catch up, actually I expect you will be waiting for me.
Thanks Gary and John, Matt and Phil (Matt thanks for looking after Phil 🤣), and Greg, Andrew, Rob, and Brad – an excellent bunch! Brilliant day out. Bit of a shock; first time beyond 100k for a long time. Macclesfield nutcases were not appreciated – the weather, Sunday sport brought out more cars than we have seen for a while. The Avon Rd addition was … interesting … and could become a regular. 1:20 closed temporarily due a tree fall. Emerald Bakery had been busy baking – very full or product. Svaks was excellent as ever.
My stats for the day; just shy of 110km, my wahoo’s generous 2100m, 4.5hrs riding (6 hrs elapsed – 2 stops!). Courtesy of the early start we were back around 1230.
Thanks Brad for hosting and posting!
[on other topics I definitely heard vague (or better) interest in the 2023 Italian trip from 3 other ARCers, with a possible preference for late May/early June 2023. Will continue to add details on the other thread. And yes I am trying to drum up interest!]
