A number of our club members have recently been involved in incidents while out riding so I thought it might be helpful to do first aid training.
The training will not be a certified first aid program but something more in line with assisting a sick or injured cyclist. We’ve all been on a ride when one of group has felt unwell, cycled into a ditch, come off as a result of a dog/debris or a pot hole on the road or path and the very bloody obvious, been hit by a car.
I’m open to suggestions and we can tailor the training to our needs. It might include wrapping/cleaning wounds, looking for signs of concussion, when to move an injured cyclist, making an area safe for an injured person and responders, when and why to contact emergency services (insurance/TAC/drug test driver/reporting).
If you are interested in attending the first aid training please add your name below.
Date/time/cost to be confirmed.
Great idea Margaret.
I will also think about this. Though I do think we should look at a certificate course, even level 1 .
Some cyclists may have some training through work. May be good to know who has training and skills of the current members
