ParticipantWell it’s just past 1 O’clock and the way I envisaged this weekend I would have been rolling into Angler’s Rest just ahead of Rusty and the rest of the peloton. Thanks to COVID things haven’t gone the way we’ve had them planned but I think we are growing accustomed to accepting things like this better than we did 12 months ago. I would like to thank Wayne and Jude for organising what was going to be a wonderful weekend and I am hoping that we can attempt the Alpine Weekend in the near future.
Thanks to Elaine and Rob for a wonderful lunch date to Beechworth.

ModeratorThanks for all your thanks.
I’ve been talking to Lana about Blue Duck Inn cabin availability, and it is possible we maybe able to do something in the middle of April.
I may even be able to gain my climbing legs by then to ride instead of drive.
I also need to weigh up the logistics, weather, and other considerations before posting an ARC Alpine Challenge 2.0.
I’ll post something by Monday.
As a side note – Ken, your payment finally turned up!
Cheers

ParticipantThanks Wayne and Jude for all your time and effort in organising this highly anticipated weekend. Happy to postpone to another weekend, even if it only means day rides to the surrounding peaks from Bright.
For Janet and myself, having got as far as Myrtleford for lunch and later coffer at Milawa, chatting to Justin and Richard and with some encouragement, we then made a dash for NSW to get away from 5 days of lockdown. After visiting friends in Wodonga, restrictions then changed in that visitors going into NSW were required to quarantine for 5 days in their place of stay.
Back to Melbourne, via Benalla, 12 hours of travelling, what a day and look forward to the seeing everyone on the other side and on the next Alpine.Tony

ParticipantEmma and I took the same decision as Perry and went for the weekend lockdown in Bright. Didn’t realise there were a few at the Brewery last night, sorry we missed you. We did a pivot in view of the impending weekend with only take-away, and had dinner at Elm over the road.
Looking forward to a rescheduling, hopefully.
Lockdown also knocked out next week sailing, so more self-pitty. I guess having Covid could be worse.
See you all soon.2021-02-15 at 12:59 pm #64092Wayne Russell
ModeratorThe Blue Duck Inn has no cabins available until after Easter, however all cabins are available on both Saturdays 10/4 and 17/4/21.
I have picked up a new job involving 24/7 shift work, can’t be sure of my fitness or availability, and even though there seems to be plenty of interest, I’m not in a position to be the instigator of an ARC Alpine Challenge 2.0 for 2021.
I will instead turn my attention to next years challenge, with the date set and a post to follow shortly.
If someone wishes to step in to organise a rerun, please give me a call and I can share all the contact info and discuss logistical details.
It’s also time for cabin/snacks/drinks refunds. Rather than post details on the website, probably best if you text me either PayID or bank BSB/Account details, and I’ll start the process.
See you on the road when local riding resumes.
Cheers
Wayne.

ParticipantThanks Wayne, understood. I think you should retain something for the amount invested in the snacks/nibbles etc. Perhaps suggest an amount.

ModeratorThanks Philip, but that’s not necessary.
Although, I’ve never been one to knock back the occasional complimentary double shot latte!

ModeratorHi Wayne
A belated post to echo the previous sentiments and to thank you and Jude for organising the Alpine weekend, 10 years running. Its a shame that this year’s event didn’t go ahead but I hope you know how much your work and effort is appreciated by everyone.
Glad to hear you’ve got another job AND that you’re still intent on running the Alpine weekend in 2022. I’m sure there’ll be lots of takers.
Stay safe, stay well and lets hope we’re all out of lockdown soon.
Elaine

ModeratorThanks very much Elaine.
I’d have to say I was a bit flat after driving home Friday, but ready to tidy this one up and move onto next year.
To that end, please keep those Bank Account/PayID details coming via text.
See you on the road soon.
Cheers
