ModeratorHi Wayne.
I’m so slack, didn’t even realise this had been posted.
Thanks for organising again.
Can I have one of the last spots, please?
Thanks

ModeratorHi All,
We nicely wedged this years ARC Alpine Challenge between bushfires and Covid, and it’s also looking good for 2021, hopefully we can revert to the traditional anti-clockwise route.
A reminder to get into the hills and ensure your fitness is suitable for the challenge, 12 further weekends available for training.
Listed below are the 28 starters, plus Lynton currently on waitlist. Have a good think about your availability and please advise of any changes.
I am a slight change in that I will be along for the weekend, but in a support role rather than riding. I have the opportunity to join this years grain harvest and learn some new skills on a combine harvester and chaser bin, and fitness won’t be suitable to ride.
I also won’t have too much spare time to address queries or issues between now and around Australia Day. Most on the list have been participants in years past, so most simple questions could be answered by those on a weekend ride.
Think about your accomodation in Bright on Friday 12/2, Jude and I have booked again at The Bogong View Motor Inn, the owner mentioned he still has plenty of rooms.

Unfortunately I will be a non-starter. I don’t have the base fitness now and with three weeks away with no riding in January, I won’t be fit enough.

KeymasterWayne, thanks for putting this together as always! I am very excited about finally making it to this world renowned cycling event (my world is very small).
Caroline is planning to join the adventure, may do some easy rides only (rail trail etc). We will be heading up on the Friday staying at Alpine Hotel (I delayed too long for Bogong…) and staying there again on the Sunday night allowing for a relaxed return and potential ride (Buffalo?) on Mon morning …
To other matters; training! We have all had lots of trainer rides, flat rides, some mid-hills (Bonds), a reintro to the ‘Nongs. (some have been a bit more active in the hills. certain individuals have headed interstate for intensive pre-alpine training…)
I will be looking to do a stepped hill program (?) over the intervening weeks (primarily on Sundays), gradually increasing distance and vert metres. This will be around the ‘Nongs and the plan will be to add segments each week increasing km and vm as we go. Lots of options for varying fitness levels allowing riders to do shorter routes as needed with Svaks as primary coffee shop. Watch for the posts.Looking forward to the training and the weekend!
