Very clever! Well done mastering the monkey.
General question to the group regarding Friday… and a MtBuffalo ride;
– anyone planning to be around on the Friday interested in the MtBuffalo ride, and any time preferences (notice that I am have not yet mastered the monkey 😀)
– I have not planned for Monday. However, any plans for Monday?R
2023-02-01 at 9:25 am #74093Brad PhillipsModeratorHi Rusty,
As per the briefing notes I plan to leave Porepunkah (near the roundabout at the start of the Buffalo rd) at about 1:30pm on Friday. I think some of the others were heading up on Thursday and so may be planning an earlier start.Helen and myself are staying Sunday so may be interested in something Monday morning. I think Perry had some plans for front of Falls.

Ken, Mark and I are travelling up at a couple of different times on Thursday. Mark and I may do a shorter ride Thursday afternoon like Buckland Valley.
Friday we will do Buffalo, time dependent on weather but likely AM. If anyone else is around and planning Buffalo we can arrange a catch up.
We are leaving Sunday arvo.
Cheers

Mark I owe you $15 as you paid $95 – you only need to pay $80 ($65 accommodate, $15 food).
Food and Ride Preference Surveys – Thanks Gavin, Mark, Richard H, Russell and Matt.
Ken, Neal – if you could advise food and ride preferences (see 2 x survey links above) that would be great.
Cheers, Brad
2023-02-01 at 9:43 pm #74103James JohnstonModeratorHi Brad,
I’ve not looked at the forum for a while, and I’m an admirer of all the work you have put into organising the ’23 Alpine Challenge!
I would like to join this year’s crew as a very late entrant, (unless there has been a very late rush on entries!).
My riding condition is….. hmm, hopefully good enough, but I’ll be motivated by the Dolomite Dreaming trip later in the year, so it will probably be a case of mind over matter.
I plan to travel up on Friday morning, and return on Monday (may or may not ride on Monday – depending), and looking to share the driving if others need a lift. My Forester has a Thule 3 bike rear towbar bike rack, so I’m able to carefully accommodate 2 other bikes.
I’ve not arranged Bright accom as yet for Fri + Sun; I guess either Bright Velo or close by makes sense, but I’ve not checked availability as yet (looks like min of 2 nights stay?). Where are most people staying?
I’ll transfer $80 tonight, and have crack at the monkey tomorrow night.
RegardsJames
2023-02-01 at 10:52 pm #74108Brad PhillipsModeratorHi James, still plenty of room so welcome aboard! Not sure if any of the others have spare beds in their accommodation but you might get lucky. I think @Richard Cole was looking to share accommodation/travel but he may be organised by now.
cheers, Brad
2023-02-02 at 11:44 am #74111Nathan AlexanderModeratorHi folks
Due to a fetlock injury, I’m going to be a scratching for the Alpine Classic! Overtraining seems to have brought on a calf tear, so no riding for a few weeks at least. Thanks Brad for all your good work, and count me in for next year!2023-02-02 at 9:23 pm #74112Phil ScardamagliaModeratorHi Brad, unfortunately I’ve had something come up that means I need to be in Melbourne on that Friday night, so I won’t be able to make it for the weekend. Hope everyone has a great weekend and riding is good! Thanks.
2023-02-02 at 9:44 pm #74113Brad PhillipsModeratorThanks for the update Phil and Nathan.
Payment received James, thank you! I think you plan to complete the surveys tonight. We are now down to 20 starters so pass the word around to see if anyone
else wants to join in. Partners are welcome and we do have some space to allow
people to only ride part of the course. All enquiries welcome!2023-02-04 at 11:37 am #74130Perry BrownModeratorHi Brad – surveys completed and payment made. Thanks for doing all the organizing!
I won’t be riding Buffalo on Friday (done it 3 times already this summer) but will join you for dinner.Plan for Monday is to go over Tawonga Gap to Tawonga and loop around Mountain Creek and Dams roads to Mt Beauty then up the Falls Creek rd about 8 km to the closure. Descend back to Mt Beauty for coffee before returning over Tawong Gap again. Probably 7am start but will be confirmed on the weekend.
Cheers………Perry
