ModeratorUnder new, and not better, management……
Dates for The 2023 ARC Alpine Challenge are locked in and entries are now open.
It is the Peaks Challenge Falls Creek route over 2 days, held 3 weeks prior to the Peaks Challenge, a total of 250km and 4500vm.
The weekend is great for anyone planning their strategy for the Peaks Challenge, picking up 7 Peaks climb segments, or just for the challenge of being in that spectacular part of the country on a bicycle with the ARC cycling group.
It is not a race, and everyone rides at their own pace, departing in groups to suit ability, and taking as long as required.
No sag wagon support is guaranteed, so fitness levels must be suitable and bikes mechanically prepared.
Positioning, and independent accommodation is required in, or around, Bright Friday 10th Feb.
Most people meet for dinner at the Bright Brewery on Friday night (6pm) and I will book this closer to the date.Saturday 11th Feb ride from Bright to Anglers Rest via Mt Hotham 139km & 2500vm.
Sunday 12th Feb ride Anglers Rest to Bright via Falls Creek 111km & 2000vm.
Friday 10th and/or Monday 13th Feb – Mt Buffalo rides are often organised independently by those arriving in Bright earlier Friday or with availability to stay Sunday night on an individual basis, 63km & 1300vm.Accommodation Saturday night is at The Blue Duck Inn, Anglers Rest.
I’ve paid the deposit to secure all 6 cabins. Room for 24-29, dependent on the mix of couples, males, and females.
A SMALL bag can be transferred between Bright and Anglers Rest.
http://www.blueduckinn.com.au/accommodation-at-blue-duck-inn.htmlIf you post your interest, please put it in your diary at the same time, and consider booking accommodation in Bright Friday night.
Non-cycling partners and family members very welcome. At this stage the weekend will be planned exactly as last years’ was planned so please refer to the 2022 posts for detail, give me a call, or chat to those you’re riding with for additional detail.
