Hi folks
Free accommodation for someone Sunday night 11th February! I have a booking at the Bright Velo for that Sunday which I won’t be using, so happy for someone else to have it.
I am looking for accommodation on Friday the 9th.

2024-01-06 at 12:27 pm #79695Garry DowdModeratorHi Brad,
Unfortunately another casualty, despite good intentions my hill training has been non existent and will not be in shape to attempt the Alpine Classic.
May still come up and do some rides on the Friday and Saturday but will not do the whole loop.

2024-01-08 at 11:10 am #79701Justin MurphyKeymasterBrad, I’m also a cancel for the main loop ride. I do plan to be in Bright for the weekend and hope to do day rides/climbs out of Bright. Thanks for all three organising.
Justin
2024-01-09 at 11:01 am #79766Brad PhillipsModeratorThanks for the updates Tony, Justin and Gary. There is actually quite a cohort of people now who are planning to be in Bright for the weekend so you may want to organise something with Tawonga Phil or even consider meeting up with us on one of the days. Also drop me a note if you plan to join Friday night or Sunday afternoon at the Bright Brewery.
2024-01-09 at 11:18 am #79767Brad PhillipsModeratorHi everyone,
A little over 4 weeks to go, so not too late to start ramping up the hill training, especially if you are off to Adelaide.
It’s about this time of the year that we get a few cancellations and some also forget they signed up almost 10 months ago.
I haven’t managed to catch up with everyone, so perhaps you could start the conversation on rides with those on the list to raise awareness as the date draws nearer. We do have some spare spots so pass the word around to see if anyone else is interested. As always, while it is important to have a reasonable level of fitness, we do have a few drivers at present so there may be an opportunity to jump a ride around some of the sections – so don’t give up yet!
The Bright Brewery is booked for dinner on the Friday night at 5:45pm and drinks Sunday afternoon at 3:15pm.
At the moment all the roads look open and Lana has confirmed that the bridge in front of Anglers Rest is ok.I will be posting more detailed plans and a survey form after Adelaide around 29th January. The closing date for the ride is 05th February just before we head off on Friday the 9th.
The starters list as of today is as follows:

2024-01-25 at 6:57 am #80255Robert van OssModeratorUnfortunately I will not be able to make it this year. Hope you all have a wonderful time.
2024-01-27 at 5:08 pm #80265Russell IvesKeymasterThx Brad – brilliant job!
Who’s planning for a Mt Buffalo ride on Fri? And if so any thoughts yet on likely ride timing?
Am starting to look at my Alpine schedule; current plan is to head to Bright Thu PM (earlier if I can), ride Buffalo Fri morning before it gets too warm (it still might get wet this summer…), return Monday possibly via a couple of wineries – so won’t be around for the Tawonga gap ride we did last year.
Thx R
2024-01-27 at 5:19 pm #80266Trev SharrockModeratorBrad,
Don’t think I’ve said but I will be there for dinner on Friday and Sunday.
Nathan
Is that spot at Velo still available?
Cheers
Trev
2024-01-28 at 10:48 pm #80281Perry BrownModeratorI’ll be hosting the Tawonga Gap and Damms loop tide again on the Monday; meet outside CyclePath bike shop at 07:00. Over TGap and down to Tawonga; loop around Mountain Creek and Damms roads and back over TGap. Approx 70km and 1250m vertical from Bright. Coffee somewhere.
Trev – there’s a bed available at our place at Wandi if you’re still looking for somewhere to stay.
Cheers……Perry
