Cycling hate is on the rise.
personally I don’t think we have as many bogans as QLD or WA….yet.
I haven’t been abused on the road much lately (I get more abuse from those I ride WITH)
how about others?
A “bogan brigade” backlash – including online death threats – has targeted Queensland safe cycling campaigners
Sunshine Coast man Cam Frewer told nine.com.au his Facebook page – Drive Safe, Pass Wide – has drawn intimidating responses.
He says his page aims to educate cyclists and drivers about how to share roads safely. But it has provoked a fierce trolling campaign.
“If I ever see you on your f—-t f—ing bike, I’ll deadset run you over k—”, a recent online threat said.
Another troll wrote: “Who the f— do you think you are? Come ride in front of me and I’ll run you over and reverse back to finish you. F— off the road you muppet or watch what happens.”

Mr Frewer said he was disappointed by the response to his efforts to halt cycling injuries and deaths on Queensland roads.
“It’s quite confronting. I go out the way to show how I am trying to educate all road users – not just drivers.
I think 95%, or more, of drivers do the right thing, and take care. I have had a few close shaves, but think none were really deliberate, and a couple of instances of road rage. Which, in 2 decades or more of cycling, is pretty good. But it cuts both ways. Cyclists need to behave if they expect car drivers too – it’s share the road, not own it, by anyone. So, not blocking turn cars, and trying not to hold cars up. It is nice when a driver notices you done something considerate, and thanks you. It’s easy going down the 1:20, not to even hear a car come up behind you. And not just for their sake, it’s a bit dangerous if you’re not even aware someone might be just about to overtake you.
